Rig Superintendent (Onshore)
Role Objective:
Responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective completion of onshore oil and/or gas wells, ensuring delivery within production targets, budget, and client satisfaction — all while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure all work activities are conducted safely and in an environmentally responsible manner; do not undertake any task perceived as unsafe.
- Lead and supervise daily operations of the drilling department and coordinate with other key departments to achieve client objectives within company policies.
- Coordinate with the rig move contractor via email to schedule rig release dates and times for proper planning.
- Verify that rig move permits and PTWs (Permit to Work) are obtained before any rig relocation.
- Visit and evaluate new well locations in advance to identify and report any deficiencies to the Rig Manager.
- Execute kick circulation procedures using the “Wait and Weight,” “Driller’s,” or concurrent method as required.
- Ensure adequate inventory levels for drilling system equipment are maintained, accurately recorded, and preserved.
- Monitor daily operating costs to ensure expenditures remain within the approved budget.
- Maintain valid well control certification and ensure all drilling operations comply with GDI standards, local regulations, and international safety practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma with relevant technical training in drilling; a college degree or diploma is preferred.
- Valid I.W.C.F. Supervisor Level Certificate (Surface BOP Stack).
- Completion of relevant safety and operational training, including:
- Well Kick Control
- Firefighting and Survival (H₂S)
- ALERT and Accident Prevention
- BOP and Well Control/Prevention
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of rig experience, including at least 3 years as a Driller.
